It is many years since we first reported the plight of Asia Bibi, who was arrested in Pakistan in 2009 and sentenced to be hung for blasphemy – a measure that often seems to have less to do with Islam than with score settling and property grabbing. Huge petitions have so far failed to save her as the courts have upheld the original decision.
This woman of 45 (along with her husband and young family) have suffered intensely during her long years of imprisonment. Please remember her especially as a symbol of the Suffering church. If you possibly can, do take a minute to sign this petition to Number 10, for the British government to make its voice heard too.
She is by no means an isolated example.
