After so much talk about North Korea and America, let’s bring the concept of strategic prayer closer to home! The truth is that the Lord adds to, and even multiplies, whatever we give Him. We frequently do not know what we are sowing, or how He will use our efforts to reach out to people, but He has wonderful ways of making tiny seeds spring up for His glory! However, just as the farmer must consider the steps, stages and sequences he needs to take to prepare good soil, so we too must, rather than just hoping for the best.

I love this story that David Pawson tells about starting from where we are (and from where others are): There was a man who had long prayed for his neighbour to be converted. But because nothing appeared to be happening, he grew discouraged and took his complaint to the Lord. In return, the Lord asked him, “Have you actually prayed to meet your neighbour?”  “Well, no,” confessed the man and he asked God to bring them together.

In time, the man and his neighbour met and the man began to pray for opportunities to share the gospel. One day, over the garden fence, the neighbour asked him where he went every Sunday morning. Things moved on swiftly from there, and the time soon came when he was able to pray with confidence , “Lord, convert my neighbour!” And He did!

Father, are there steps and stages I am missing? Please show me what they are and help me to honour You by seeking to make progress on many fronts for You in this way.
